ElektroG information
The following regulations apply to the online sale of electrical and electronic equipment (ElektroG - status: ElektroG3, in force since January 1, 2022) via this webshop. We fulfill our legal obligations to take back old appliances in accordance with §§ 17 to 20 ElektroG as amended. The following information also serves in particular to provide the legally required information in accordance with Section 18 (3) ElektroG.
Owners of old appliances must also separate old batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed in the old appliance, as well as lamps that can be removed from the old appliance without destroying them, before handing them in at a collection point.
The symbol according to Annex 3 of the ElektroG enables owners to recognize old appliances that must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of their service life. The symbol for the separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment represents a crossed-out wheeled garbage can and indicates that separate collection is required by law. All electrical appliances sold by us are permanently marked with the crossed-out wheeled garbage can symbol in accordance with Section 9 (2) ElektroG. The symbol is designed as follows:

Free take-back of old appliances by distributors
Distributors with a sales area for electrical and electronic appliances of at least 400 square meters are obliged to take back old electrical appliances from end users free of charge as follows:
Return/collection upon purchase of a new appliance and delivery to a private household:
When concluding a purchase contract for a new electrical or electronic appliance, Caso GmbH undertakes to take back, free of charge, an old appliance of the same type that essentially fulfills the same functions as the new appliance. The return of larger old appliances is excluded without the purchase of a new appliance of the same type. Contaminated, damaged or contaminated old appliances are excluded from return, in particular for safety reasons.
If the new appliance is sold exclusively by means of distance communication (Section 312c (2) BGB in conjunction with EU 2011/83), the following restrictions apply:
- The free collection of an old appliance of the same type and function shall only take place if it is a category 1 (heat exchangers), 2 (screens, monitors, appliances with screens with a surface area of more than 100 square centimeters) and/or 4 (large appliances where at least one of the external dimensions is more than 50 centimeters) appliance.
- If it is an old appliance of category 3, 5 and/or 6 instead, it will not be collected free of charge. Instead, the following applies: Return when purchasing a new appliance and return elsewhere/return of small appliances
- The return of commercial old appliances or bulk returns is excluded.
- An overview of the appliance categories and the appliances covered in each case can be found here: https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/elektrog_2015/anlage_1.html
Returns when purchasing a new appliance and returning it elsewhere/returning small appliances:
When concluding a purchase contract for a new electrical appliance that is not delivered to the private household and when selling a new appliance of categories 3, 5 and/or 6 exclusively using means of distance communication (Section 312c (2) BGB) with delivery to the private household, it is possible to return an old appliance of the same type that essentially fulfills the same functions as the new appliance to the distributor free of charge.
The same option is also available for old appliances that do not exceed 25 centimeters in any external dimension, irrespective of the purchase of a new electrical or electronic appliance. In this case, the end user may only return 3 old appliances per appliance type to the distributor.
In the case of sales exclusively using means of distance communication (Section 312c (2) BGB), the return is subject to the above conditions:
- old appliances of categories 3, 5 and/or 6
- of old appliances that are not larger than 25 centimeters in any external dimension, by means of suitable return options at a reasonable distance from the respective end user.
- The return of commercial waste appliances or bulk returns is excluded.
Information on the options for returning old appliances
Owners of old appliances can hand them in at the facilities set up and available by public waste disposal authorities for the return or collection of old appliances to ensure that they are disposed of properly. It may also be possible to hand in electrical and electronic equipment there for the purpose of reuse. The responsibility for more detailed information on the respective collection or take-back point lies with the collection or take-back point itself.
Information on data protection
Some of the old appliances to be disposed of contain sensitive personal data (e.g. on a PC or smartphone) that must not fall into the hands of third parties.
We expressly point out that end users of old devices are responsible for deleting personal data on the old devices to be disposed of. We will not check or delete this data. We accept no liability for any loss of data or misuse after return.
